Marriage? No, thanks. She’d rather kiss a dragon.

An Enchanted story.

All Prince Cahill needs to assume the throne is one simple thing a wife. Except every virgin princess in the kingdom has turned up deflowered before the deal can be sealed. The very next maiden to cross this threshold, he vows, will be his bride.

When she appears—injured, half-frozen and reeking of dragon dung—he holds to his promise and puts her to the final test to prove her worthiness. A test that involves a mattress and a pea.

Breanna couldn’t be less interested in marriage, especially to a cocksure royal like Cahill. Since losing her family to a dragon horde, she has become the continent’s finest slayer—a job she doesn’t plan on giving up until the last dragon’s blood drips from her sword.

Yet her sleepless nights are plagued with visions of Cahill doing wicked things to her untutored body. And when she fights at his side to repel a dragon attack, her visions become delicious reality.

But Queen Eleanor, whose reign is about to end, has no intention of giving up her power. Not to Prince Cahill, and certainly not to some young upstart…

Warning This book contains corruption, seduction, conspiracy and magically-induced erotic dreams. And that’s just the first chapter.

Much like the Thief of Hearts trilogy, I found the interweaving of fairytales into the story very well done. Slayer doesn't follow or pull from any one particular fairytale, though The Princess and the Pea has some weight, but has a little bit of everything from the wicked stepmother, the handsome arrogant prince, the unbreakable laws of the realm that require odd tasks to be performed, and of course a dragon.

I adored Breanna right from the beginning. She is a no-nonsense, independent, strong woman who knows what she wants out of life and isn't about to be cohersed and pressured into something or someone she isn't. I liked that she thought about things and was analytical about what she saw instead of jumping to conclussions and ignoring facts. Cahill comes across as intelligent, strong-willed and a bit arrogant, but then he is a prince who seems to have mostly gotten his way in his life.

I liked how he had to fight to persuade Breanna to give him a chance and until he finally admits he does need her for more than just a wife, she doesn't give him the time of day. But with that admittance, they start to see each other as a person and more than a need/distraction.

This is a quick moving novella, though it did not feel incomplete or lacking as sometimes can happen with such a short story.

I really enjoyed this story. Breanna is a fully developed character and Cahill is a gentleman, but not one without a sex drive.
They are both well drawn and also draw you into their tale. At times you think that he is a sexist pig (or swine) but what I love about both of the characters is that they're flawed. And sexy!
A great way to while away some time!
This is an interesting interpretation on the princess and the pea folk story. I truly felt so sorry for the princesses who were duped by the queen and I'd like to see them get their own happily-ever-afters. I loved Breanna, she's so feisty and I admire heroines who take their future into their own hands. This story was almost like a role reversal for the hero and heroine as our Slayer is the Prince's saviour. Prince Cahill was a likable character who I felt rather sorry for as he seemed trapped by laws he had no control over. I loved the dragon slaying portions of the story as they were both adventuresome and funny. This was a wonderful break to my every day life and if you enjoy adult fairy tales this is one you will enjoy. - Theresa Joseph
I thought the story and the characters were well developed for a short story. This was worth the money.
I read this last night on the recommendation of friends, and what a great way to end a day! Funny, sensual and I loved the playful mix of modern and medieval language. Cahill is a little slow out of the gate, especially against the sassily named Captain Peacock, but man oh man, does he pick up speed! And the heroine shows spunk and skill, no matter the dragon she's riding. More, please!
This was a very good little book. It was just a cute quick read. The action was fun! The characters were fun especially the battle of wits they shared. The plot was well written-
Prince Cahill and Princess Breanna you may remember these two in another series trilogy . Cahills step mom Elanore has plans of her own to keep the throne to herself so she ensures every princess in the kingdom fails to marry her step son Cahill ... but cahill finally puts his foot down and tells her that he will marry and that she will be taken away from his kingdom as soon as he marries and becomes king .. he meets a dragon slayer named Brea who is a princess . but dragons killed her family .. but to find out how or why or what may become of Cahill or his step mom or of Breanna must read and review and of course buy the book .. until next read and review read on ...
